Carol’s Charity
As a person passionate about helping others, I would like to share my adopted charity with you.
The Wingate Centre offers ‘special needs schools’, voluntary organisations and self-help groups the opportunity of enjoying short-term residential breaks through a specially equipped 22-bedroom accommodation building catering for up to 50 guests, along with a wide range of specialist washing, bathing and toileting facilities. Whilst on site these groups also have access to the Centre’s 7,000sq ft gymnasium, sensory room and outdoor play areas.
Each year Wingate welcomes over 1000 disabled children and their carers from all over the country. For many it will be the first residential experience they have ever had and sadly for some of the more profoundly disabled, it may be the only residential experience they ever have.
I was deeply touched by the work carried out at this incredible centre and am committed to making a difference through charitable donations and support.
How can you help?
The centre is desperate for the following items: Toys eg: Brio wooden train sets, wooden tray jigsaws, children's DVD's, shape sorter toys where the pieces are big and chunky, duplo bricks, toddler activity play centre such as fisher price (no loose or small pieces), childrens books especially board books, big read aloud books or tactile books with soft pages.
The centre is also able to raise funds from old mobile phones, computer printer cartridges, old clothes and old books.
If you have such items please let us know via the contact page on this site. If you would like to make a charitable donation to the charity please visit http://www.justgiving.com/carolscharity and all funds go directly to The Wingate Centre. Thank you.
